“Smallness” Model Workshop

The social, economic and environmental PRESSURE that cities cope with today creates new opportunities to develop clever, value adding design solutions. Under pressure everything get’s fluid and boundaries between public and private space, urban and domestic activities and artificial and natural environments dissolve. Marc Koehler Architects’ work responds to this by rethinking architecture as a DOMESTIC LANDSCAPE, a carefully designed, open environment that triggers spontaneous urban and natural life.

By introducing SMALLNESS (the antithesis of bigness) as an new design mentality, MK tries to break with the old-fashioned top-down design approach. It celebrates Personality, Fluidity and Compression as the primary tactics of sustainable design. Mk tries to place people at the centre of the creation, use and experience of architecture. To put it simply, we believe that architecture and design can help to create a better future.
